Porsche has announced an investment of 150 million Euros for its Weissach development center as part of a long-term strategic plan, part of which is a new high-tech wind tunnel and also a state-of-the-art design center. Staff increases will come with the upgrades, and 100 engineers will be hired in what the company is calling the “first stage.” But what are they working on in that design center, you might ask?
Well, as part of the announcement, the company decided to release a photo of what appears to be a production version of the 918 Spyder Design Studie, in 1/4 scale clay model form. The noticeable lack of differentiation from the stunning concept is respectable, and while the curves seem just a bit shallower, this clay may not be fully carved yet. One thing that is more noticeable in the clay is that the 918 looks like a bit like a Ferrari F50, not that it’s a bad thing.
