McLaren MP4-12C to Make Public Debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed
posted by Tom Cassady on 30 June 2010 in Automotive News
The MP4-12C, Maclaren’s ambitious new supercar, is set to release any time now. But some big things need to happen first: the finishing of the prototyping phase of development, and, of course, a public unveiling of the car. And in late-June/early-July, there’s no better place to do so for a British manufacturer than at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
McLaren plans to do just that, killing two birds with one stone, by letting Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton drive the latest “Validation Prototype” up the hill on Lord March’s property, the first time in public view. At McLaren’s stand, fans can see the MP4-12C up close and personal, when it’s painted in typical McLaren Orange.
We’re very excited about the MP4-12C, and commend McLaren for taking on such a project, even developing its own engine entirely in-house. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to make it out to West Sussex in time, but if you get a chance to see the car, make sure to tell us what you think.
