The Volkswagen Group’s growth and focused strategy have been quite obvious since Dr. Martin Winterkorn took on the role of Chairman of the Management Board on this week in 2007, and in celebration of the man’s accomplishments, the board below him voted unanimously to extend his contract through the end of 2016, even though his current one isn’t set to expire until the end of 2011.



While the company has come a long way in the past few years, its goal of being the world’s largest automaker is still ahead. Dealing with Winterkorn’s contract so far in advance will surely bring some added stability to 2011 and many years into the future. With the leading man set in his role, we’re interested to see what VW swallows up next in the new year.
