Brabus Widestar Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Debuts at Essen
posted by Stuart Fowle on 3 December 2010 in Aftermarket and Industry News
Because the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG wasn’t quite wild enough, Brabus has decided to step in and put its own personal touch on the monster machine. Imagine something like the SLS GT3 racer for street use, and you get the idea.
In addition to the requisite lightweight forged wheels, Brabus also added considerable carbon fiber bodywork to the SLS, with all pieces developed in a wind tunnel. Finish options for the carbon, by the way, include matte or glossy clear coats as well as body-matched paint. At the rear a titanium exhaust system pokes out, while the body benefits from electronic ride control. The exhaust system, while surely pricey, adds ten horsepower and weighs just 26 pounds, 40 percent less than stock.
As you can see, the body modifications from Brabus are pretty dramatic and downright menacing. The suspension, lowered 1.2 inches, only helps the case but it is height-adjustable in either direction from there. But we’ll stop–just stare at those pictures for a while.
