Ducati and Mercedes AMG Create Special Edition Diavel

After AMG and Ducati announced their MotoGP partnership last year, the two companies have announced projects and programs at a seemingly nonstop pace. With Frankfurt on the horizon, we see yet another announcement from the two, but this time it's more directly related to product that the companies actually make.

Hitting the stand next week will be an AMG Special Edition of Ducati's new cruiser, the Diavel. Based off of the Diavel Carbon, the AMG Special Edition will have new wheels, and "AMG-style" exhaust system, carbon fiber radiator grilles, and an AMG-inspired Alcantara seat. And just in case you forget who is Ducati's new MotoGP partner, and thus inspired the bike, AMG badges are affixed in numerous places around the motorcycle.

As far as we can tell, there isn't much of a performance boost, aside from that exhaust system, but Ducati does say that each bike's Desmodromic cam-timing is set by hand, and for a personal touch, the name of the technician who set that timing is engraved on the engine casing.

To differentiate the AMG model from afar, all will be finished with matte black carbon fiber bodywork, featuring AMG's very own "Diamond White Bright" color on a stripe running the length of the fuel tank, as well as setting the frame in contrast to the healthy helping of black found elsewhere.

We're sure more details will come out next week, when the bike is officially unveiled. We'll be sure to get you more details in our coverage of that show.
