Porsche Design Releases 2010 Shoe and Fragrance Collection
Stuart Fowle
Porsche Design's new shoe collection is comprised of four different designs in a variety of colors. All are simple, classic designs, yet a few have a touch of flair with use of fabrics like carbon fiber. They'll all be manufactured in the fine shoe capital of Italy, in cooperation with Muller & Meirer Ledewarenfabrik GmbH. Here are the four model names and how Porsche Design describes them:
-Milano: "Elegant and sleek for everyday business"
-Berlin: "Light and sporty for the evening"
-Tokyo: "Perfect for making an entrance"
-New York: "A modern combination of Nubuck and Nappa leather"
Because this shoes were all designed with both style and driving comfort in mind, their soles have been specially crafted to aid in heel-and-toe downshifts. They have non-slip TPU soles and yes, each shoe is a little different for individual needs. The outside of the right sole has a long row of grooves to grip the gas pedal during shifts, while the left foot is just flat and non-slip for solid grip on the clutch pedal.
Four colors comprise the palette for the new line of shoes. Black and white keep things elegant, while titanium gray and a dark, rich brown color add some character. All are made from the finest Italian calfskin. They'll be available worldwide at the beginning of 2010.
Before the shoes go on sale, however, a new fragrance will launch worldwide. It's called "The Essence Intense" and is described as "a new orchestration - sensual and sophisticated - of the successful fragrance "The Essence." It'll be offered in 50- and 80-milliliter bottles.
"Intense" is an evolution of Porsche Design's original scent, and the company explains the fragrance this way: "It gives a first impression of invigorating freshness, which is the common characteristic of the whole "The Essence" product range and is based on myrtle, juniper berry, and bitter mandarin. Next, the fragrance opens to the intense and virile notes of Siberian pine and black pepper, which contrast with the spicy mildness of cinnamon from Ceylon. Finally, Haitian vetiver and amber give the creation its strength and a new sensuality." Wow. We may need to get a bottle for the office. And honestly, it sounds like it'd make a delicious condiment, too.
