Jaguar Launches R Performance Driving Academy
Bryan Joslin
Jaguar North America is offering buyers of 2010 model XKRs and XFRs an opportunity to get comfortable with the performance capabilities of their new cars by way of its newly created R Performance Academy. American customers who purchased one of these new R models through September will receive an invitation to attend the academy free of charge.
The goal of the academy is to introduce owners to the true potential of their new 510-horsepower performance cars in a safe environment. The curriculum, which is covered in one full day plus an evening orientation, enables drivers to explore the variety of dynamic features of their Jaguar, including ABS, stability control, and the various Jaguar Drive Control functions. Track exercises will include lane-change maneuvers, emergency braking, a slalom course and high-speed hot laps with a professional racecar drivers.
Four tracks have been chosen for the academy, which will change locations quarterly for the next year. The first session starts at Homestead in Miami, Florida, in December. Monticello Motor Club in Monticello, New York; Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Nevada; and the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, are the other locations. Those interested in the Academy can visit the dedicated website at www.jaguarperformanceacademy.com.
