Spyker and Saab CEOs will Drive Vintage Saab 93 in Mille Miglia
Rally driver Erik Carlsson put Saab on the map as a serious motorsports contender by taking the company's venerable little 93 coupes to rally victory after rally victory in the late 1950s. Now the reformulated Swedish carmaker, under the direction of its Dutch parent, will attempt to relive the glory days — and hopefully remind people why Saabs are such interesting cars in the first place — by entering a vintage Saab 93 in the famous Italian road rally, the Mille Miglia, this May.
Pulling from the Saab museum in Trollhattan, Spyker Cars CEO Victor Muller and Saab Automobile CEO Jan-Ake Jonsson, will each drive classic Saab 93s in the legendary road race through Europe.
“Unique cars like the 93 are a key part of the Saab brand’s wonderful heritage,” says Victor Muller. “I shall enjoy driving it and being able to share in some of Saab’s history.”
We expect the new company to continue reaching into the archives in an attempt to get back on the radar of passionate driving enthusiasts.
