Only Remaining James Bond DB5 Movie Car To Go On Sale in October
The Aston Martin you see here, besides being a beautiful example of a DB5, is rather special. It's special because it's hiding something lots of things, like a smoke screen, and machine guns, and oil-slick-spewing exhaust pipes, and revolving number plates, all fitted by the factory. That's right, this car is James Bond's car. FMP 7B, as it's affectionately called, is the very car Sean Connery drove in the two Bond films Goldfinger and Thunderball. It has been in hiding as part of a private collection since 1969, owned by American Jerry Lee. It made its rounds until 1977, when Mr. Lee installed it in as a static piece in his home.
Since then, it's appeared in public twice, once at the New York Auto Show, and once at a Concours. But that's all about to change on October 27th. RM Auctions will put the car up for sale in London at its "Automobiles of London" sale. All procedes will go to the Jerry Lee Foundation, "
Proceeds of the sale of FMP 7B will be used to further the charitable work of ‘The Jerry Lee Foundation’, a multi-national initiative dedicated to solving social problems associated with poverty, with an emphasis on crime prevention."
All that is well and good, we just love to look at all those gadgets. Feel free to poke around in our galleries on the right.
