Volkswagen Shows Off Customized 2011 Jetta at Waterfest Enthusiast Show

Last month Volkswagen debuted the new 2011 Jetta in some fashion, shutting down Times Square, buying out the billboards, getting Katy Perry to sing and dance around in a tiny dress, and, for some reason, having Mario Batali cook up a few dishes for the crowd. While we're still confused about how that last bit fits in with the Jetta image, we're quite happy to see that just a few weeks later VW has rolled out a customized version of the new car for its fans.

The car, a white example, lowered and with a body kit over black wheels, showed up this past weekend at Waterfest, a massive Volkswagen show in New Jersey. It's great to see that there are some enthusiasts within the company already thinking about how to customize the car months before sales even start. Even the media is just now driving the car this week (check back next week for a first drive.)

This new Jetta, while pretty bland in stock form, does show some promise. From certain angles, this white show car looks quite a bit like an Audi. Still, this kit is pretty mild and there's some definite room to grow. And we might recommend a wheel style with thicker spokes, which might help hide the disappointing fact that the new Jetta wears small drum brakes at the rear.
