Spy Photos: 2013 Porsche 911 Turbo Gets Big Vents, No Spoiler

For the past year or so, spy photos have been popping up of the next 911 out testing with stickers on the rear fenders imitating the big ducts of the twin-turbo car. We're not exactly sure why this has been part of the camo get-up, but maybe it was simply in hopes that people wouldn't take notice when the real 911 Turbo finally headed out testing. Sorry, Porsche. The photos you see here, we assure you, are the real thing. Just look at how wide that butt is.

One thing that might have thrown a few people off might be the fact that this test mule is missing the big spoiler that's been standard 911 Turbo kit for decades. We'd say that might just be part of the disguise, but the decklid clearly has a motorized spoiler designed to go up at speed, so perhaps with the next generation, Porsche will offer a choice of the integrated spoiler or the larger, more iconic fixed version.

Other than that detail, these photos provide a little better peek at some of the 911's new lines and edges, which are expectedly evolutionary. Under the covers, one can clearly see that the car's LED driving light strips remain, as do LED tails. That's good, because with 550-600 hp expected, the next Turbo will need to announce its presence as clear and bright as it can.
