MINI to Debut New Infotainment Concept at Geneva
The next step in personal entertainment connectivity will debut next week at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, where MINI will unveil its MINI Connected technology. Billed as a way for the MINI driver to stay connected to his outside world, the new system integrates the Apple iPhone completely into the in-car entertainment environment.
Beyond its new USB interface, there will be an optional new radio, called the MINI Visual Boost, that will allow the full range of MINI Connected functions through its high-resolution color display and joystick controller. Drivers will be able to access web radio through an iPhone-connected phone, selecting from what is described as an "extensive database" of stations that stream music over the Internet.
The details of this new system are sketchy at this point, and we hope to get a better demonstration of the functions while at the show next week. We do know that MINI Connected will debut alongside the MINI Countryman crossover vehicle as an option later this year.
