Land Rover Makes Big Joke of Car Camouflage, Dresses Range Rover Evoques in Friendly Wraps
Honestly, after a car has already debuted there really isn't much concern about test mules being spotted out on streets. People have seen the car without camo, so no big deal. Land Rover must understand this, because the company has decided to move beyond other companies releasing their own spy photos by actually turning its Range Rover Evoque prototypes into rolling billboards.
Ten early prototypes headed to ten different major cities around the globe were yanked from the Land Rover fleet and taken in for vinyl wrap jobs. Each features a clever backdrop of webbed lines representing street maps and big letters on each side saying hello to each city in the home language. So, for example, one says "Hello New York" while another says "Hello London." Wait, that's a terrible example, let's try another: "Hola Madrid." There, that's better. The other seven cities are Sao Paulo, Paris, Milan, Sydney, Shanghai, and Moscow."
Don't let this small group fool you as, in all, there are hundreds of RR Evoque prototypes out there testing over millions of miles at all corners of the earth. In all, over 17,000 individual tests will be performed before the car's launch next summer. And there are still opportunities for spy photographers out there to get more details--you'll notice that the group pictured here includes no interior photos and also no four-door models.
