LA Auto Show: 2010 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Autobiography
Stuart Fowle
Land Rover already offers an Autobiography version of the Range Rover Supercharged, but ultra-affluent Range Rover Sport buyers have never had a good way to differentiate themselves from the decently-wealthy masses. That changes now, as the brand has just announced a special-run Range Rover Sport Autobiography.
The LR RRS AB, as we'll abbreviate the ridiculously long official name, starts with the mental 510-hp supercharged model and adds to it a touch of added opulence. Outside, plastic moldings on the lower doors are now painted body color, rather than left as bare material. A rear roof spoiler is extended further than on other models, while "Titan" accents, mesh grille, and side vents complete the package. Special 20-inch, ten-spoke allow wheels are unique to the AB, as are the model's altered exhaust tips. Santorini Black is the only paint choice for this first run, which is limited to 250 units.
Inside, the changes aren't so subtle, but we certainly aren't complaining about that fact. The two choices--ebony/ivory and ebony/pimento--for two-tone layouts (three total are offered) are fantastic. The front and rear headrests are all embossed with a special "Autobiography Sport" logo, while gorgeous wood door inserts wear the same nomenclature. Rear-seat entertainment and HD radio are standard with the AB, as are an electronic rear differential lock and adaptive cruise control. The six-speed automatic transmission, as with the basic Supercharged model, can be controlled via paddle shifters. The gallery of images for the Autobiography Sport is a bit slim for now, but rest assured our live gallery will be quite deep.
