Geneva Galleries: Volkswagen Group Night of Driving Ideas, Now With 100 Percent More Timberlake
Each year, the night before the Geneva Show press days start, the Volkswagen Group throws a big party to show off its debuts and "drive ideas," as the night's official name indicates. It's a night of big names and big reveals, but this year there was even a special appearance by pop star Justin Timberlake. For some reason or another, Audi decided he'd be a good fit for the new A1's marketing campaign.
Unfortunately for him, both he and the diminutive A1 were overshadowed by a ton of richer, faster, and more exciting stars. It's hard to say what the debut of the night was, really. There was the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, which was beautiful but just a new evolution of the same small Lamborghini we've been drooling over for years now. There was the Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible, which was cool, but big droptops aren't really our thing. No, the winner of the night had to be either the new four-door Bugatti Galibier or Porsche's concept, the 918 Spyder. And just because a possible production version would cost a small fraction of what the Bugatti will, we declare the Porsche, a newcomer to the VW Group, the winner.
The common folk production cars showed up and looked good as well, including that aforementioned Audi A1. Along with that, a whole mess of Volkswagens incluing the Amarok pickup and a few new Polo models debuted. Everything looked great, and a full gallery is linked through those pictures you see off to the right.
