2011 Smart ForTwo Updates Include New Lightshine Special Edition

When the new model year rolls around for Smart, the company's one and only current model will feature a number of updates inside and out. New green and blue paint colors will be offered, and the "tridion" cell can now be painted white, along with the grille and mirror caps. Two new cabrio top colors, red and blue, will be added, and body trim pieces that have previously been unpainted plastic can now be matched to the rest of the body. Three 15-inch wheel options are new, as are the LED driving lights up front.

Inside, a new instrument panel features a new dial design and joins a new set of fabric choices. An "assistance package" with cruise control, a sports steering wheel featuring paddle shifters, and a leather shift knob has been added, and new storage pockets have been added here and there. In regards to infotainment, Bluetooth, a surround sound stereo, and a 6.5-inch touch screen with iPod connectivity are new. New engines make lower CO2 levels and the Euro-spec Brabus model makes marginally more power.

In case you're worried about missing some of the new options, you can go ahead and just order the new "lightshine" model that features special wheels, a choice of new paint colors (including exclusive painted headlamp surrounds!), the new LED driving lights, and the new audio/navigation system. Pricing and availability haven't been announced for the US, but the lightshine will command between 2065 and 2220 extra Euros, depending on the paint choice.
