2010 Geneva Show: Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept by Stile Bertone

Alfa Romeo commissioned three styling houses--Giugiaro, Pininfarina, and Bertone--to come up with design proposals for the next generation of 159 family vehicles. The first of those three, Bertone's Pandion concept, slipped out early and it is, at the very least, very interesting. The front end, while definitely designed to be an Alfa, looks vaguely like the helmet of a Spartan warrior. From the side, the Pandion uses a long, flowing piece of glass (probably clear plastic, actually) that evokes BMW's supercar concept from last fall's Frankfurt show. At the back, it's hard to say what exactly this concept looks like, because it doesn't quite look complete. The best we could come up with is that it looks like the scenes of Star Wars showing the Death Star under construction, like it's a futuristic, complex structure that's still missing some pieces. But man, it is cool.

Since this coupe concept is meant to be a study mainly previewing the next 159 sedan, it isn't really surprising that the face looks so production-ready while the doors and rear end are more ready for the jump to light speed. We're excited to see what Pininfarina and Giugiaro come up with to compete with this futuristic coupe.
