2010 Geneva Show: 2011 Volvo C70 Coupe-Convertible by Heico Sportiv
In somewhat unusual situation, Volvo tuning firm Heico Sportiv will be exhibiting at the Geneva show this year in cooperation with Volvo itself. Heico's latest creation, the C70 you see here, will be shown right alongside the new production model. We hope Volvo realizes this will make its own version of the car seem a little less cool.
For the most part, Heico's modifications read like your typical tuning package. Wheels are offered between 18 and 20 inches in two designs: Five-spoke Volution Vs like the ones on our own Project XC60, or Volution X, the ten-spoke design you see pictured. Silver, titanium, and black cut diamond are the three finishes available. A Heico sport suspension lowers the car by 30 mm versus stock, and a dual- or quad-pipe exhaust sends the turbocharged five-cylinders sounds through a loudspeaker. ECU upgrades are offered, as are quad-piston front brakes and a differential lock.
Visually, aside from big wheels, the Heico C70 receives a rear diffuser to complement the exhaust tips, as well as a new front spoiler with a more aggressive look. All parts are made of lightweight polyurethane plastic for a very OEM look.
However, the coolest, if purely superficial, accessory on the car is the gorgeous shift knob developed in collaboration with Thonet, one of the world's oldest high-end furniture builders. It is hand-made through an elaborate, multi-stage process, and if carved out of walnut wood offered with various finishes.
