TPC Racing/BGB Motorsports to Bring First Porsche Cayman S to Grand Am Racing

Last summer, an APR Motorsports GTI took the checkered flag in a Grand Am race and we were all shocked that we couldn't remember the last time a GTI--one of the most iconic enthusiast cars of all time--won a major motorsports event in the US. Another one of those moments occurred today when we heard that Porsche tuning leader TPC Racing and BGB Motorsports would be fielding two Caymans in Grand Am this season. How has the Cayman S, one of the finest track cars in the world, never been raced in a professional series here in North America?

Perhaps the answer lies in the professional racing world's love for and loyalty to the 911, but regardless of the reason, that era is over. In collaboration with BGB Motorsports, TPC will be fielding a team of two Cayman S race cars in the Grand Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series this year. Both will use suspension components designed and tuned by TPC, including the company's Stage 4 suspension kit, Pro Series sway bars and drop links, and TPC Racing toe links.

The two cars, prepped by TPC and campaigned by BGB, will be differentiated by color, along with number. A black car wearing the number 38 will be driven by Steve Jenkins and Craig Stanton, the latter being a Grand Am Driver Champion in both the Rolex GT and Continental Challenge GS classes. A second car, blue and wearing number 23, will be driven by Keith Carroll and Duncan Ende. We wish the team the best of luck and will just go ahead and assume the Cayman will clean up in its class.
