Brabus Officially Unveils Vanish, a Tuned Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series

The Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series, with its huge twin-turbo V12 and race-derived suspension is the most hardcore Merc ever built, topping even the new SLS supercar in both price and power. But for one owner, that wasn't enough. Brabus took the car in and worked the Black Series over with a series of upgrades, with the big number here being 800--as in 800 horsepower.

With that sort of punch under the hood, the Vanish, as this one-off is named, isn't so much about 0-60 mph times, though 3.6 seconds is certainly astounding. No, the more impressive number is the time it takes to run from a stop to 200 km/h, or 124 mph. That's done in just 9.8 seconds, while top speed is a scary 206 mph. The car uses Brabus' T65 RS tuning, the same used in the firm's other amazing V-12 supercars. That includes a twin-turbocharger system with integrated turbine housings, as well as four massive intercoolers. Free-flow catalytic converters and a custom stainless steel exhaust were specially made for this Black Series application. Torque is limited out of fear of catastrophic transmission failure to 811 lb-ft.

While all the go-fast components are available for installation on any Black Series, it's the custom interior that makes the Vanish a one-off. Stainless steel scuff plates with an illuminated Vanish logo, along with a glowing red speedometer with the same lettering are the highlights of the custom-made components. The rest of the interior is finished in soft leather and Alcantara, all held together with bright red stitching. It's truly a special car.
